The EB-906/275 is a dual low ESR power supply, each polarity using 4-diode full-wave bridge rectifiers. The + and the – rails are completely independent of each other. Diodes D1-D8 are axial or TO-220 soft/fast recovery diodes. The capacitors C3-14 are 2200-3300µF low ESR capacitors. C15/C16 are film caps.
The mains transformer needs to have independent secondary windings. When using 35V caps for C3-14, then the secondary voltage should not exceed 24V. Note that mains voltages have a tolerance of +/-10% in most countries and a 24V secondary will supply >26VAC at 10% over-voltage and the DC across the caps will be >37V. In this case the caps should be rated at min. 40V.
Although the layout has been made for full-wave bridge operation, the EB-906/275 can also be used for full-wave center tapped operation. Connect the two GND and the two ~ points in the middle together and remove diodes D3, D4, D5, D6 and C1C, C1D, C2A and C2B.
When testing the EB-906/275 connect an appropriate load at the output and check the DC voltage across the load. If the PS is used for a 24V regulator rated at 200mA, then the load resistor should be a 150 Ohm/7-10W resistor.
The EB-906/275 design is the intellectual property of Erno Borbely/BORBELY AUDIO. Commercial use and duplication in any form is prohibited.
